Who are we?
The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) is an international voluntary Catholic Christian organisation founded by Blessed Frederic Ozanam who was inspired and motivated by St Vincent de Paul. We attempt to live the core Gospel values (Love of God and Love of our Neighbour) through an action-oriented programme, working directly with people in need. The SVP is the largest voluntary charity in the world!
What do we do?
Through person to person contact, we seek out and help those in need – whether families or those living on their own within our Parish. All work is done on a strict basis of confidentiality and with the support and co-operation of our priests.
Who can be a member?
Membership is open to all Christians who share the spirit of the Society, accept its principles and are prepared and able to give the necessary commitment. The approval of our Parish priest is also sought before acceptance.
Any special notes?
Assistance is given both materially (e.g. help with bills and other expenses; helping to obtain furniture and domestic appliances if needed;help with applications for benefits and re-housing)and to provide company on a regular basis for the lonely.
